“Millions to be given NHS smart watches”
We are encouraged that the 10-year health plan is to be powered by cutting-edge technology to enable self-monitoring and have always supported the 3 outlined priorities with Lifelight:
✅ Shifting treatment from acute settings into the community;
✅ Moving from reactive treatment of the sick to preventing people getting sick and;
✅ Moving from analogue technology to digital.
However, as Saffron Cordery, deputy chief executive of NHS Providers highlights in the below Independent article, more funding would be needed to deliver the government’s plan.
With this in mind, Lifelight negates the need to provide smart watches or wearables for pulse and blood pressure, instead using the smartphone everyone has in their pocket already. It also means the following, further cutting the needed capex outlay and improving the patient experience:
🔧 no calibration – many blood pressure wearables still need to be regularly calibrated by a cuff
📦 no logistics – uses existing smartphone – no device outlay
⌨️ no extra hardware – 100% contactless
🤕 no discomfort of wearing a wearable 24/7
🧑🏽⚕️ no clinical lead time, unneeded surgery visits and fully scalable as SaaS based technology
